Why Choose Us
Why choose a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®)?
our financial planner should be a trusted partner whom you feel comfortable with and who truly understands your needs. However, many people believe all financial planners are “certified,” but this isn’t the case. Anyone can use the title “financial planner.”
Only those who have met the strict certification and renewal requirements of the CFP Board can display the CFP® certification trademarks. These marks represent a high level of competency, ethics, and professionalism.
CFP® professionals must:
Complete rigorous education covering all key areas of financial planning
Pass a comprehensive certification exam testing real-world application of financial planning knowledge
Gain relevant work experience to demonstrate practical skills
Adhere to a fiduciary standard, legally required to act in your best interest
Because CFP® professionals are held to this fiduciary duty, you can trust they will put your needs first, offering high-quality, ethical advice that helps you achieve your financial goals with confidence.
Choosing a CFP® means choosing a financial planner committed to excellence, ongoing professional development, and the highest ethical standards.
CFP® Certification Requirements
Unlike many financial advisors, CFP® professionals must develop their theoretical and practical knowledge by completing a comprehensive course of study at a college or university offering a financial planning curriculum approved by CFP Board. This education requirement typically includes a series of in-depth courses covering essential financial planning topics such as investment planning, tax planning, retirement and estate planning, risk management, and ethics.
Applicants may also satisfy the education requirement by submitting transcripts for review if they have completed relevant financial planning-related coursework prior. Additionally, some candidates qualify by holding certain professional designations or academic degrees that cover the core subjects in CFP Board’s financial planning curriculum.
To fulfill this requirement fully, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in any discipline. The degree must be completed either before passing the CFP® exam or within five years afterward.
This rigorous educational foundation ensures that CFP® professionals have the knowledge needed to provide competent, ethical, and comprehensive financial planning services. We value long term client relationships.
